The Amara Retreat is a private retreat facility with 44 acres of beautiful rolling grassland and native bush in the amazing Noosa Hinterland. Stunning 180 degree views to the north and across to Noosa.  Amara is only 20 minutes from Maroochydore Airport, 10 minutes to Peregian Beach,  20 minutes to Noosa and 90 minutes from Brisbane.

The wonderful 6 bedroom Guest House caters for both twinshare and nonshare, with access to a bathroom from each room. There is a cosy lounge with a fireplace and a spacious verandah with views out to Noosa.

There are 2 cabins and 3 luxury glamping tents dotted around on the property and are also available to stay.

Susannah,  the owner, see’s herself as the guardian of this piece of paradise. Her mission for the Amara is to facilitate knowledge for a sustainable future by inspiring human beings to re-ignite their love for life and nature.

The 100 sqm yoga studio is stunning with a calm and clear energy as one gazes out the clear glass windows to wonderful views across the paddocks and bush.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Payments are non-refundable. However, if cancellation is received 1 month prior to the event, the payment (less a cancellation fee – 30% of total retreat value) will be held in credit for 12 months, to be used at a future Sunshine Yoga event. A replacement person will be accepted.

It is highly recommended you have travel insurance in case of any unforeseen circumstances that require you to cancel. Sunshine Yoga & Health can arrange the insurance as a complimentary service – approximate cost is $60.

 

NATURAL THERAPIES

This is an add-on service for additional nourishment and wellbeing. This year we are providing you with Thai Yoga Massage. The very lovely and experienced Dani will be providing 1-hour treatments. She is very passionate about this truly wonderful massage. Please advise me of your interest prior to the retreat. Private Health Insurance claims can be made. The cost is $90 per hour.

ITINERARY

Sunshine Yoga & Health’s program is varied and interesting. We offer a more gentle and slow approach. Focus on conscious breathing flows through every moment of your session.

The subtle release work, moves tension and clears toxins from the body and mind. It is an integral part of  my unique style. It is through this release work and slow yoga routines that allow the body to build sustained strength and energy and the mind to remain focussed and calm.

You are encouraged to work at your own pace and attune to your own body’s needs – which does change from moment by moment, day by day, week by week.

Free time, silence time and fun time create the perfect balance for this fulfilling weekend you are about to experience.

 

EXAMPLE OF 3ngt/4day RETREAT

DAY 1

2.00 to 3.00pm         Registration, settle in to your room and have a cuppa

3.30 to 5.00pm         Intro to yoga, breathing and meditation

Dinner

8.30pm                      Meditation before bed. Silence until breakfast

 

DAY 2

7.00am                      Energisation exercises outside on grassed area and a walk to the dam

Breakfast

9.30am to 12.30pm  Tension and tightness release exercises, pranayama, meditation and guided relaxation

Lunch & Free Time    

3.30 to 5.30pm         A flowing slow yoga routine with yoga nidra.

Then relax around the fire pit with a kombucha 

Dinner

8.00pm                      Meditation before bed

 

DAY 3

7.00am                      Tai Chi Warmups outside on grassed area

Breakfast

9.30am to 12.30pm  Yoga and the Psoas Muscle, pranayama, guided meditation

Lunch & Free Time   

3.00pm                      Afternoon Tea

3.30 to 5.30pm         Qi Gong, chakra yoga session, guided relaxation

5.30 to 6.30pm         Lyn’s surprise – something different

Dinner

8.00pm                      Meditation before bed

 

DAY 4

7.00am                      Energisation exercises

Breakfast and Pack up

9.30 to 11.00am       Flowing movement, yoga and breath, a guided relaxation and farewell circle.

11.30am                      A cuppa and a snack before heading off.

  • 3 or 5 night accommodation – twin beds in each room

  • Yoga mat (rubber non-slip 6.2mm thick available from Sunshine Yoga $45)
  • Bolster if you use one – cushion and blanket/throw-over
  • Comfortable loose-fitting clothing for yoga
  • Comfortable casual clothing – warm jumper/wind breaker for September for possible cooler nights

  • The Amara Retreat Centre offers twinshare and nonshare accommodation. 
  • It is ideally situated, nestled on top of a hill with a wonderful outlook to Noosa
  • A 6 bedroom modern home has well appointed rooms with shared bathroom for each 2 rooms
  • Cabins that sleep up to 4 people are also available on the property

MEALS

The wonderful nutritionist and cook, Juanita Mooney, will be catering for us. She not only has experience with cooking at retreats, she has knowledge of the nutrition that the meals will be made up of.  She is not a Vegan, or a Vegetarian or any other label but rather, just like me, we love good, tasty, nutritious food.

Juanita will be staying on site and will prep and cook all the meals in the kitchen at the Guest House.  I am extremely excited to have her on-board to carry on the tradition of Sunshine Yoga & Health’s healthy menu.

  

MENU – EXAMPLE

Breakfast

  • Roast vegetable, kale, fetta and chorizo frittata or
  • Bircher muesli served with fruit salad, house made almond blueberry coconut granola and yoghurt
  • Boiled eggs and sourdough toast plus seasonal fruit platter & yoghurt
  • Banana protein pancake bake served with berries & yoghurt plus sourdough with selection of tomato, cheese & avocado

Lunch

  • Roast vegetable quinoa salad with herb yoghurt dressing & house made veggie burgers
  • Lemon pepper chicken with green ‘make-me-happy’ salad served with mango poppy seed dressing
  • Teriyaki chicken poke bowl – build your own or
  • Rice noodles, teriyaki chicken, beansprouts, Asian slaw, accompanied with pickled ginger, Japanese mayo, coriander
  • Thai beef salad, marinated beef strips served on a fresh Asian green salad infused with herbs and chilli & lime dressing

Dinner

  • Slow roasted lamb accompanied by Jewel baked pumpkin topped with herbs, rice with yoghurt dressing
  • Mexican feast: build your own naked burrito or nachos with turkey & bean mix, corn chips, salad, cheese, house made salsa and natural yoghurt
  • Bali curry – a mild yet full flavoured cashew, chilli, ginger, garlic and lemongrass creamy coconut sauce served with chicken & seasonal veg accompanied with rice
  • Baked tomato & basil chicken served with twice cooked crispy potatoes, seasonal vegetables and lemon white wine sauce 
  • Beef Massamun, a slow cooked rich aromatic coconut based curry sauce served with sweet potato and seasonal greens accompanied with rice
